The Energy Unit works to help build a secure, affordable and sustainable energy future for Saint Kitts and Nevis.

Its work is guided by the National Energy Policy, which focuses on four priorities: energy security, access to energy for all, affordable energy, and environmental protection. The policy also sets a goal of generating 100% of the country’s electricity from renewable energy sources.

The Unit carries out its work within the national legal framework, including legislation governing electricity supply, renewable energy and the development of geothermal resources in Nevis.
