Basseterre, St. Kitts (Public Infrastructure News) – Following months of construction, work on the perimeter of the water storage facility at Olivees is nearing completion. On Wednesday, September 24, 2025, in an interview on the WSD’s Water Line, Assistant Water Engineer Chantal Hanley assured the public that the measure would reduce the already negligible risks of trespassing and water supply contamination at the site.

Hanley informed:
“The project is about 85% completed. […] We are currently waiting on the completion of the gates, […] additional fencing, and of course, to install the barb wire.”

Hanley further shared that the WSD plans to secure similar locations around the island to maintain the integrity of the storage facilities and the quality of the water they supply.
The efforts to safeguard this facility are part of broader efforts to secure a steady supply of water that meets the required quality standards for public consumption.
